Santa Ynez with Lauren
0I try to plan every shoot as much as I can, but sometimes things like location and weather are out of my control. So when things worked out on my shoot with Lauren, I couldn’t be any happier with the results. We had great weather and found a beautiful ranch to shoot at. Word of advice when location scouting, always ask for permission first before shooting on private property. From my experience, people are a lot more willing to work with you when you’re honest and upfront with them. Enjoy!

Newport Beach with Jessie of Willow Model Management
0I go into every shoot with a vision but sometimes you just got to adapt. I really wanted to take advantage of the Southern California sun and take some golden shots at the beach during sunset. Mother nature of course didn’t cooperate and I was met with cloudy skies. I had to change my concept around to match the cloudy look of the beach so I went with a faded look.
Jessie is an agency represented model with Willow Model Management and was great to work with.

Swimsuit Shoot with Palna
0I had a great shoot with Palna on Monday and it made up for a pretty crappy day of shooting on Saturday. I was really determined to get some great shots with Palna and boy did she deliver. For this being her first photo shoot, she did a really great job and I hope to work with her again in the future.
A fellow photog, Anne of agmgfotography, was kind enough to assist me with the shoot and even brought along her friend, Trisha, who was an MUA. Trisha not only did a great job with the makeup but she also was helpful as a location scout and stylist as well. I have to thank everyone that helped on this shoot because I wouldn’t have been able to get the beautiful images without them. Go Teamwork!
The lighting for this shoot was very simple. The afternoon sun was being lightly diffused with some overcast clouds and created some really beautiful lighting that I used as my key light. I used a gold reflector as either rim lighting or some fill depending on the angle of the shot. Anne and Trisha had their worked cut out for them holding the reflector in place because of how windy it got during the shoot.

Here are some Behind the Scenes look of the shoot:

Test Shoot on the Island
0I did a fashion test shoot several weekends ago with a local fashion designer on Treasure Island. It was a beautiful day to shoot and we find a nice spot where we could see the San Francisco skyline. I used a SB900 with an umbrella to fill in some of the shadows created by the sun.
Skirt designed by Phuong My.

On Location in Tahoe
0I make enough trips to South Lake Tahoe during the winter that it warranted a photo shoot in the snow. Luckily for me, there were two models local in the area that were game on to shoot. They had picked out a perfect spot for us to shoot at and it had been snowing enough that we had to hike through waist deep snow to get to the spot we wanted to shoot at.

Josephine Resort
0I teamed up with an aspiring fashion designer to do a shoot of some of her pieces a couple weekends ago. I’m always amazed by people that can design clothes from scratch. I don’t even know how to sew on a button…
We got a great team together for this shoot and it always makes life easier when there are multiple hands and eyes helping to make sure we get the right shot. It was really cold that morning and much credit is given to the model to be able to compose herself and strike a pose even when every part of her wants to shiver.

Posing on the Island
2I’ve been wanting to do an edgier style shoot for quite some time too round out my portfolio. I found an abandoned warehouse that had the perfect setting for what I wanted. Sadmira was a great model and braved the cold to come up with some great pictures. We shot both indoors and outdoors and got some great captures.

N’Damus Pictures
1As a followup to the video I posted on Sunday are a couple more pictures from the N’Damus photo shoot. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they make it into a London publication.

Sunset Fashion
0I got a pair of umbrellas and light stands this past week and wanted to try them out. Jeannie was kind enough to let me try some shots out during sunset.

1I got an awesome opportunity this weekend to help as an assistant during a studio shoot. I got to learn the ropes and had the chance to shoot some pictures as well. It was was a very rewarding experience and can’t wait to have my own studio in the future… I can dream right? Thanks Alan again for the great experience!
Jeannie was great to work with and I hope to shoot with her again.
