A Book Review – Fine Art Wedding Photography by Jose Villa

As a photographer, I find myself needing inspiration from time to time and Jose Villa’s book, Fine Art Wedding Photography, has plenty. The images in the book are absolutely stunning, but more importantly the book provides insight into his fine art style. The book has some great tips on how to handle different lighting situations ranging from low light receptions to harsh mid-day light. He also provides advice on how to coach and pose the couple to get the best images on their special day.
His approach is refreshing in an industry dominated by photojournalism as the go-to style. I am also amazed that he only shoots with film cameras while minimally editing the final images. As a result, I’ve become tempted to pick up a film camera myself. This book is a great read and I would recommend it to anyone needing some inspiration or looking for a fresh perspective in wedding photography.

0The weather in the Bay Area as of late has been far from normal with showers in June. Luckily for Eliot and Ashley the sun decided to show up and create a beautiful setting in the picturesque town of Loomis at the Flower Farm Inn. I was fortunate enough to work with my buddy Greg Ma at this wedding.
Bridal Fashion Show
0I attended the Modern Luxury Weddings Bridal Event at the Ritz Carlton this past weekend and took advantage of a fashion show going on that day. They had some well known brands such as Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier.
